Men's Buying Guide

Help and advice for purchasing underwear for your loved one!

I have talked to some men about this problem - they feel they are on a dangerously slippy slope if they get this one wrong! If you buy it too large - she may be upset because you think she is bigger than she actually is. Buy it too small - it could go either way - either she is fuming because you clearly could not be bothered to find out the right size, or, she is 'secretly' very happy, because you are blissfully unaware of her real size and she will be able to return it for the correct size.

But does it all need to be like this?

Again, there are loads of hints and tips out there, and amongst them are:

When she is out, go through her drawer and pick out some underwear that you have seen her wearing recently. Did it look right on her - was it too tight, did the bra make her look like she had 4 breasts and the briefs as though she had elastic bands pulled tight across her? Find one that you know sat comfortably on her - no lumps and bumps, not too tight, not wrinkly or baggy. Check the size labels and buy those sizes. BIG HINT here: make sure you put her underwear drawer back as you found it!

For night wear, check her dress sizes

Choose colours that compliment her eyes and hair colour and her skin tone - if unsure, you can't go wrong with black

Think about what the garments are for - if it is just for bedroom wear, choose items that you know may be a bit daring, but that you know you will both like.

If the garments are for every day wear, think about what sort of clothes she will be wearing it with -

• Is she shy about having her bra show through her blouse? Choose plainer underwear - a white bra will actually show through a blouse more than a neutral one. Choose a skin coloured or nude bra for her.
  
  
• Or does she like to wear lacy, coloured underwear that can be clearly seen? Go for the more luxurious looking items - quality and fit count here, so make sure you buy her something that will look good if it is going to be 'worn to be seen'.
  
  
• Does she like her straps to be on show? Look for underwear that has decorative lace or embroidery both on the cups and the straps
  
  
• Or is she coy? There are plenty of plain coloured, less lacy underwear items available that have some details but are still very pretty and will make her feel special

Don't choose something too over the top if you are buying for her for the first time. Choose something simple and classy and learn about her likes and dislikes for future purchases.
